Knowing your numbers are important if you want to know how to lose weight. Measurements are vitally important because they act as guidelines and progress trackers on your way to successful weightloss. As fat loss occurs these measurements change and the results are plain to see. Recording these numbers provides added motivation when the going gets tough and you feel like chucking in the towel. tracking your weightloss progress is what is give you drive and enthusiasm and determination to keep going.
The numbers you are looking for include the following:
- weight measurements
- waistline measurements
- chest measurements
- butt measurements
- upper thigh measurements
- lower thigh measurements
- upper arm measurements
Remember that fat loss occurs throughout the body, but your body uses the stored fat at different rates. So having measurements will quickly let you know where the weightloss is occuring. Sometimes people get bogged down because their expectation of where the weight should be lost is unrealistic and are inclined to give up on their dream because the visual results are not apparent. However they may successfully be burning fat, just not in the areas they are looking at.

Get all the measurements written down in a Journal or Diary or even on a plain sheet of paper. Keeping a written record of this journey will give you a starting point at which to measure your weightloss achievements in the future. Recording your triumphs and failures provides therapeutic value because you provide an outlet for your emotions and feelings. Never dismiss the value of doing this.

Take photographs of yourself. You may want to create a before and after collage. This also serves as a visual reminder to keep you motivated to reach your goals. - Take photos of yourself from all angles, fron, sides, back, butt etc.
- Take photos of your clothing as well.
You can use these later to brag about your weightloss acievements as well as to remind yourself to adhere to weightloss goals and not return to old ways or lifestyle.
